It’s the season of planning summer getaways, and if Atlanta is on your vacation bucket list, be prepared to take some heat (literally)! If you’re a group of native Southerners (or perhaps Northerners who are just thawing out from a frigid winter), you’re probably prepared for a little extra warmth during your upcoming vacation. So embrace the sunshine and fight the fire with these E-Z Rent-A-Car favorite places to “chill” during the toasty summer months:

1. Six Flags White Water – This 69-acre water park located just northwest of Atlanta is comprised of four different sections—Wildwater Lagoon, Slippery Ridge, Pine Valley and Flash Flood Canyon—and is an ideal destination for guests of all ages. From the 100-Meter Splash and the Typhoon Twister, to Captain Kid’s Cove and Tree House Island, there’s an attraction for everyone to enjoy!

2. Fountain of Rings at Centennial Olympic Park – A perfect spot for kids, this iconic landmark lets guests play and splash among dozens of shooting water fountains that line the Olympic rings-shaped floor. Plus, four times a day, a synchronized water/music show occurs, allowing guests dance along to the beat or simply watch from the sidelines.

3. The Cooler – Featuring two 85-foot by 200-foot ice arenas, The Cooler offers a fun, frosty atmosphere to enjoy some ice skating in Atlanta. This expansive skate center offers a variety of scheduled public skate times with ice skates available for rent at a nominal price.

4. Georgia Aquarium – Whether you’re with family, a group or your significant other, a visit to the aquarium is always an enjoyable attraction for everyone to enjoy in the summer (especially since it’s in air conditioning)! Beat the heat with Georgia Aquarium’s incredible indoor exhibits, shows and hands-on experiences, including The AT&T Dolphin Tale show, the Georgia-Pacific Coldwater Quest, Deepo’s Wondershow, and more.

5. Robin Lake at Callaway Gardens – Featuring water skiing, wakeboarding and tubing, Callaway Gardens’ 65-acre Robin Lake offers some incredible water sport activities for guests of all ages and skill levels. Open seasonally between the end of May and the beginning of August, the lake offers a refreshing way to spend a summertime afternoon in Atlanta!

6. Piedmont Park – This midtown Atlanta hotspot is actually quite the place to cool down! With its multi-lane, beach-entry Aquatic Center, as well as a relaxing lazy river, Piedmont Park makes it easy to have a blast while making a splash during your trip.

7. Morelli’s Ice Cream – Recognized as “Atlanta’s favorite ice cream” shop, Morelli’s offers ice-cold, deliciously textured homemade ice cream that will cool anyone down in the summer heat. Enjoy unique and exotic flavors, blended with gourmet ingredients and named to imaginative perfection!

When you visit Hotlanta in the summertime, make some time to cool off at some of these water-infused and air-conditioned attractions. And while you’re planning the rest of your trip, be sure to take advantage of more helpful resources online with our E-Z Rent-A-Car coupons, travel-related blog posts and more.
